Will it surprise you if I say there are over 25,000 small, medium and large scale Industries in Coimbatore, and the number is still expanding every day? With a population of over 3.5 million, Coimbatore is a land of opportunities and proudly called the “Manchester of South India”.

With Information Technology giants like Robert Bosch, Cognizant, Wipro, DELL, Payoda, Angler and so on who are successfully running their offices in Coimbatore, there are also promising startups like Arivanza Technologies, VRNext, Healtho5 and so on. The annual software exports from the city is said to be over Rs.6000 Crore (US$884 million).

 The city has 2 special economic zones (SEZ), the Coimbatore Hi-Tech Infrastructure (CHIL) SEZ at Saravanampatti and the TIDEL Park near Peelamedu, and there are at least five more SEZs in the pipeline. Apart from vacant land available at the IT parks for development, Coimbatore also has totally 3.6 million sq.ft of built-up IT space, out of which, nearly 1.4 million sq.ft is in special economic zones, which includes the Tidel Park and two private IT parks.

Coimbatore is the second largest producer of software in the state, next to capital Chennai. It is ranked at 17th among the top global software outsourcing cities.
